Accreditation

Accreditation is a process of assessing standards of excellence and best practices in health care and social services organizations. Accreditation Canada provides health care and social service organizations an independent, third-party assessment of each surveyed organizations, using standards built upon best practices used and validated by similar organizations around the world. It is an assessment of what is being done well in a facility and what needs to be improved.

Accreditation is important because it signals a clear commitment to excellence in health care standards while allowing organizations to understand how to make the best use of resources, increase efficiency, enhance quality and safety, and reduce risk.
